Job description

Summary

The Reliability & Maintainability (R&M Engineer) is responsible for reviewing and analyzing the system and equipment design for its compliance to the safety, reliability and maintainability established in the specifications and/or contractual obligations.

The R&M Engineer is responsible for collecting supporting data for the analysis purposes using industry handbooks and guidelines. Analyses include system dispatch and availability, equipment basic reliability and FMEA predictions, maintainability estimates for equipment maintenance cost and maintenance tasks analysis.

The R&M Engineer is responsible for R&M related documentations required for design reviews

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • •Reviewing and analyzing the system and equipment design for its compliance to the reliability and maintainability requirements per SAE ARP4761
  • •Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA), Preliminary System Safety Assessment (PSSA) and System safety Assessment (SSA)
  • •System Reliability Report (SRR) using Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Common Cause Analysis (CCA) and Common Mode Analysis (CMA)
  • •System Maintainability Report
  • •Equipment Reliability Prediction, FMEA and FTA
  • •Equipment Maintenance Cost and Maintenance Task Analysis
  • •Reliability Demonstration Reports by Product Engineers
  • •Reliability and Maintainability Predictions and Reporting
  • •Perform system and component reliability quantitative predictions (Part Count Analysis) per MIL-HDBK-217F, MIL-STD-785B, NRPD-95, ERPD-97 and FMD-97.
  • •Prepare Piece Part Failure Modes and Effects and Criticality Analysis and Failure Modes and Effects Summary per MIL-STD-1629A and D6-56674.
  • •Prepare Engineering Reliability Parts Prediction Count Reports (ERPPC), Failure Modes and Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Failure Modes and Effects Summary (FMES), and Environmental Hazard Analysis
  • •Prepare Electrical Parts Stress Analysis (EPSA) and derating of electronics as appropriate
  • •Analyze failure effects at the component level and extrapolate effects at the system level.
  • •Analyze failure modes qualitatively for frequency of occurrence and effects on the aircraft.
  • •Evaluate customer requirements and prepare reliability analyses, reports, plans and testing.
  • •Maintainability Analysis using MSG-3 (including task analysis, maintenance predictions, level of repair analysis, maintenance allocation).
  • •Performs analysis to calculate field mean time between unscheduled removals, mean time between failures.
  • •Takes pride in producing high quality work that is free of errors
  • •Adheres to program budget and schedule of all assigned projects and provide status reporting of the progress.
  • •Identify design deficiencies and opportunities for improvement based on analysis, test observation and test results.

Education and/or Experience

  • •Requires a Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Mathematics from an ABET accredited or equivalently recognized institution.
  • •A minimum of 5 years' experience in reliability/maintainability areas. Aerospace environment preferred.

Physical Demands – While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to move around the office, lift equipment and perform lite physical activity.

Work Environment – Tolerate a work environment of design, manufacture, inspection, and testing of equipment and systems which includes noise and other environmental conditions.

Travel – Periodic local travel
