The Director of Supply Chain for Safran Electronics & Defense, Avionics USA will be joining a dynamic and innovative leadership team. They will be well positioned to create and execute the supply chain strategy to support the organization's short-term and long-term business and financial goals. This role will be based in Irvine, CA and responsible for more than $100M annual spend across four domestic and international locations.

A key aspect of the role is to define and deploy supply chain strategies which will drive continuous improvement in our costs, quality, and deliveries. These include supply chain processes, make vs. buy and vertical integration strategies, selection of key strategic partners, and associated contracts/long term agreements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • • Minimum of 8 years of Supply Chain Management (SCM) experience in the Aerospace industry
  • • Minimum of 5 years of experience with production transitions (plant to plant, plant to supplier, etc)
  • • Minimum of 5 years of direct manager of people experience
  • • Minimum of 5 years of experience assessing the operational and SCM efficiency of a facility and identifying areas for process improvement

Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain
  • • MBA or Master's degree preferred
  • • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
  • • PMP certified
  • • 10+ years of Aerospace industry experience

Job Criteria:

  • • Strong history of implementing projects and process changes.
  • • Strong understanding of operations and KPIs to drive improvement
  • • Turnaround experience with businesses including suppliers
  • • Extensive experience with localization and development of new suppliers
  • • Sound understanding of the financial issues associated with running a multi-facility business
  • • Successful experience in an organization with multiple, geographically diverse and international locations.
  • • Ability to drive change through influence and proven experience as an effective change agent
  • • Excellent communication, Customer Service and interpersonal skills
  • • Strong leadership and professional presence
  • • Directs the Development and implementation of activities in support of Material & Supply strategies and plans.
  • • Strong leadership skills able to develop people and performance
  • • Technical background focusing on complex, electromechanical components and systems
  • • Strategic supply chain development experience including international sourcing & supplier development
  • • Well versed in leading and teaching RCCA. Able to develop strategy from data. Six Sigma black belt a plus
  • • Structured, organized & detail oriented
  • • Experienced leader with emotional intelligence
  • • Familiar with and capable of developing sound make/buy strategy in concert with potential vertical integration plan

Complementary description

This role partners with the leadership teams, operations leaders, and others across Safran to develop continuous improvement plans consistent with each business unit's strategies in pursuit of meeting or exceeding the business plan expectations. This role ensures that the deployment of these supply chain strategic initiatives and supply chain tools are aligned with the critical needs of the businesses and that the deployment supports attainment of business objectives while driving continuous improvement. The role provides subject matter expertise into the creation of the organization's business strategy as well as supplemental operations strategies.

This position also focuses on building organizational capability and skill, developing talent within Safran Electronic & Defense's business. This includes building talent pipelines and succession plans for all levels within the function. This role owns the standardized processes and standard work for all supply chain roles. The functional scope of this role includes the entire extended Supply Chain, both internal and external. The role supports Demand Planning, Supply synchronization, Master Scheduling, Plan for every Part, Production Planning, Inventory Management and Shipping / Distribution of the Finished Product.
