We have a Sr. Stress Engineering opportunity to join our highly motivated and multi-functional team responsible for designing, developing, and testing pilot control systems, throttle control systems, actuators, and related flight control products for the next generation of business, regional, military and air-transport aircraft.
- • Develop high-fidelity FEA models of Actuation and Pilot Control product assemblies.
- • Perform static, dynamic, and fatigue analyses using ANSYS Workbench or similar FEA tools (Nastran, Abaqus)
- • Perform Rigid Body Dynamics analysis using ANSYS Workbench or similar tools (MSC Adams)
- • Generate component/interface loads based on system level analysis using rigid body and flexible body system models.
- • Perform component stress analysis of Actuation and Pilot Control assemblies and recommend design improvements based on the analysis results.
- • Perform endurance and vibration fatigue (LCF and HCF) analyses on various components of pilot control and actuator assemblies.
- • Support structural testing and perform test data (strain gage and accelerometer) correlation with analysis models.
- • Prepare structural analysis reports and presentations in support of product design reviews (PDRs, CDR) and FAA/EASA/JAR certification.
- • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline
- • 4-7 years of Stress related engineering experience required
- • Strong knowledge of stress analysis fundamentals, such as engineering mechanics, structural dynamics, and finite element method.
- • Expertise performing hand calculations based on fundamental equations.
- • Hands-on experience with ANSYS Workbench, ANSYS Classic, or other commercial FEA tools (Nastran, Abaqus) for structural analyses.
- • Understanding of commercial regulations (FAR Part 23 and 25, and DO-160) as they relate to materials, product design, and analysis.
- • System level certification testing and how it correlates to modeling and theory
- • Industry standard practices for development and sizing of load carrying structures.
- • The selected candidate must be motivated to learn at a fast pace, have strong written and verbal communication skills, and be able to work autonomously or in a highly interactive team environment.
