April 18, 2019
Safran was recognized at this week's Army Aviation Mission Solutions Summit in Nashville, Tennessee, for its support of the Army Aviation Association of America's (AAAA) Scholarship Foundation. The organization provides educational grants and financial aid to the families of U.S. Army pilots.
Participating companies included Safran Electrical & Power, Safran Electronics & Defense Avionics, Safran Helicopter Engines, and Safran USA. The total contribution of $10,000 will go towards AAAA's Families of the Fallen fund – established for surviving spouses and children of those killed in action or training accidents while serving in the Army Aviation community – and the organization's general fund.
During AAAA's Scholarship & Museum Donation Luncheon, Safran representatives handed over the Group's contribution to the foundation.
Another key highlight of this AAAA-sponsored gathering was Safran's booth which showcased technologies from Safran Helicopter Engines, Safran Electronics & Defense Avionics, Safran Aerosystems, and Optics 1.
The booth featured an Arriel 1E2 turboshaft engine, which is assembled at Safran Helicopter Engines in Grand Prairie, Texas, and powers the U.S. Army's UH-72A Lakota helicopter.
Safran Electronics & Defense Avionics displayed a range of avionics solutions including the SkyNaute inertial navigation system and APIRS NG - an attitude and heading reference system (AHRS) that sends highly reliable data to the primary flight display and autopilot for flight control.
A range of optronics solutions by Optics 1 were also spotlighted, to include the ARTIS 410 airborne surveillance system and the E-COSI, a multi-function clip-on imager.
Safran Aerosystems exhibited its O2PAK solution, a combat-ready portable chemical oxygen generator designed for use at the point of injury under the supervision of trained military medical personnel.
The Army Aviation Mission Solutions Summit – held April 14-16 at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel & Convention Center in Nashville – is a networking event for the Army aviation community to focus on solutions for warfighters.
