Safran highlights military technologies at U.S. Army event
October 17, 2019
Safran Electronics & Defense had a key presence at the Association of the U.S. Army (AUSA) Annual Meeting & Exposition in Washington, D.C., held October 14-16.
Safran Electronics & Defense company Optics 1 displayed its full range of portable observation and target electro-optic mission solutions, including the High Resolution Thermal Viewer (HRTV) and OEM laser rangefinder modules at this week's AUSA event. The Safran booth also featured Optics 1's STALKER handheld reconnaissance device, which has been delivered to the U.S. Army under the Laser Target Locator Module (LTLM)-II program.
Visitors were given a close-up look at Optics 1's Enhanced Clip-on Thermal Imager (ECOTI), which attaches to existing night vision devices to increase threat detection and situational awareness. The ECOTI is featured on the U.S. Marine Corps' Squad Binocular Night Vision Goggle (SBNVG) system developed by Harris Night Vision (now part of Elbit Systems of America), which was also on display at AUSA.
Optics 1 has a long history of supporting the U.S. Department of Defense, having delivered over 30,000 handheld laser rangefinders.
During AUSA 2019, the PASEO was featured for the first time on a U.S. platform, the Moog RIwP® turret. Safran Electronics & Defense built and integrated both electro optic and navigation components into the PASEO sighting system to minimize size and weight while meeting all mission requirements.
Optics 1 also spotlighted its latest inertial technologies, including ARTIS 410 (Airborne Reconnaissance Targeting Integrated System) – a next-generation multispectral, ultra-long-range observation system. This product provides ultra-long-range observation and precision targeting capabilities thanks to high-definition sensors and advanced embedded functions.
With more than 700 exhibitors, the AUSA Annual Meeting & Exposition gave the estimated 300,000-plus attendees a platform to interact with some of the latest technologies from the Army and industry partners.
